Edith Wilson’s Ghost in the Trump White House

Been reading various grain-of-salt political gossip about “the power behind the scenes,” a kind of free-floating imagination game which is currently centered on Jared Kushner. I think that kind of speculation always benefits from becoming more speculative, so: Where do you put the odds on Jared Kushner becoming posessed by the ghost of Edith Wilson? Part two, what portmanteau should we have ready as a precaution – Jarith Wilsner? Eded Kushwilnon?

Background U.S. history for people who don’t know what I’m talking about: first lady Edith Wilson surreptitiously ran the government after her husband, the president, suffered a stroke which incapacitated but did not kill him. She was not amazingly effective, partly because she couldn’t be visibly in charge. We subsequently amended the constitution to allow for a more regular succession in a similar situation (25th Amendment, sometimes cited in “Pence takes over” fantasy scenarios)

Edit Kushnon?

So far, the people who are secretly running everything have included: Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Jared Kushner, Reince Preibus, the Heritage Foundation, and Donald Trump but as a genius (the Scott Adams theory). It’s amazing how much each of their master plans resembles leaderless anarchy.
