Godspeed, Gene Cernan. Very few people have seen the things you’ve seen, or felt the lunar gravity you’ve felt, and I will miss the comfort of knowing you are still out there. I often feel (as I think you did) that I am a single cell in the larger organism of humanity, so that all pain is my pain but each triumph is partly my triumph. I loved being able to share the Earth with you. You were my favorite astronaut.
